At the completion of this course you should be able to:
- Accurately assess GCS; eye opening, verbal and motor response and identify the significance of any changes or abnormalities
- Conduct papillary responses and state the significance of any changes or abnormalities detected
- Accurately assess motor function and identify significance of any changes or abnormalities
- Assess the older person’s sensory function and identify the significance of any changes or abnormalities
- State the signs and symptoms of increased ICP
- Identify changes in vital signs that may indicate an increased ICP
- Determine the sequence and technique for a thorough physical assessment
- List possible signs and symptoms of a fractured neck of femur
- State the indications for transferring a client to hospital for further management
- Identify the documentation required post falls including which personnel need to be informed physical assessment on an older adult and identify normal and abnormal findings.
